What implants size is right for me?

The size of a breast implant is determined by the cubic centimeters (CCs) of saline or silicone used. To determine the appropriate volume, we will assess the amount of natural breast tissue you have and the breast size you desire.

We understand that all these considerations can feel overwhelming. Choosing the right implant size involves understanding your personal aesthetic goals. These factors, combined with the expertise and training of our surgical team, will help ensure you achieve the breast aesthetic you envision.

FAQ

What is Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Breast augmentation surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts. This is achieved by placing silicone or saline breast implants, tailored to each patient’s needs and aesthetic goals. This procedure is ideal for individuals looking to restore volume after weight loss, pregnancy, or those seeking to improve their self-confidence with a more balanced appearance.

Types of Incisions

Depending on the patient’s characteristics and the surgeon’s recommendations, incisions can be made in different areas, including:

  • Inframammary: Along the natural fold under the breast.
  • Periareolar: Around the edge of the areola.
  • Transaxillary: In the armpit area to minimize visible scars.

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices, and they may need to be replaced or removed at some point. While they are designed to be long-lasting, the longevity of breast implants can vary depending on factors such as implant type, age, lifestyle, and individual factors. Regular follow-ups with your plastic surgeon are important to monitor the condition of your implants.

Will breast implants affect breastfeeding?

Breast implants generally do not interfere with breastfeeding. However, it’s important to discuss your plans for future breastfeeding with your plastic surgeon. They can provide guidance and ensure that the placement and technique used during the procedure minimize any potential impact.

How to prepare for your procedure?

Preparing for your breast augmentation surgery is a crucial step in ensuring a smooth and successful procedure. Proper preparation helps minimize risks and promotes a faster recovery. Follow these essential steps to get ready for your surgery:

  • Plan for Post-Surgery Assistance:Arrange for someone to accompany you to and from the surgery center, as you won’t be able to drive yourself after anesthesia. It’s also helpful to have a friend or family member available to assist with light tasks during your initial recovery period.
  • Refrain from Alcohol and avoid smoking.
  • Follow Fasting Instructions.
  • Avoid taking any blood-thinning medications.
  • Fill Prescriptions Early.
  • Make Travel Arrangements.

What is the recovery process like after breast implant surgery?

Recovery after breast implant surgery typically involves a period of rest, pain management, and following post-operative instructions provided by your plastic surgeon. Most patients can resume light activities within a few days, but strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks.

Are there risks or complications associated with breast implants?

As with any surgical procedure, breast implant surgery carries potential risks and complications. These can include infection, implant rupture, capsular contracture, changes in nipple or breast sensation, and more. It’s important to discuss these risks with your plastic surgeon and ensure that you have a thorough understanding before proceeding with the surgery.

How Long Does the Surgery Take?

Breast augmentation surgery typically lasts about 1 hour, although the duration may vary slightly depending on the patient’s anatomy and the surgical approach used.

What Type of Anesthesia Is Used?

The procedure is performed under epidural anesthesia, which numbs the upper body while keeping the patient awake and pain-free. This method allows for a smoother recovery and greater control compared to general anesthesia.
